Manufacturers collect data and feedback from work carried out under warranty, and may issue a ‘Recall Notice’ if a defect is discovered that is likely to cause a serious safety issue.
With vehicles changing hands though, it isn’t always possible to reach the current owner, or the registered keeper of a vehicle may not always be the person driving it. It ought to be part of a ‘Preventative Maintenance Inspection’ to check for this, but Transport Managers and Operators can check for themselves.
You can find out if the manufacturer has recalled a vehicle, part or accessory because of a serious safety problem, and get it fixed by the manufacturer. You will not usually have to pay for any repairs or parts.
